The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)AADHAR was set up by the Government of India in January 2009,as an attached office under aegis of Planning Commission vide its a gazette notification.[21] The UIDAI is mandated to assign a 12-digit unique identification (UID) number (termed as Aadhaar) to all the residents of India. As per the notification, the UIDAI has been given the responsibility to lay down plan and policies to implement UID scheme, to own and operate the UID database and be responsible for its updation and maintenance on an ongoing basis. The implementation of UID scheme entails generation and assignment of UID to residents; defining mechanisms and processes for interlinking UID with partner databases; operation and management of all stages of UID life cycle; framing policies and procedures for updation mechanism and defining usage and applicability of UID for delivery of various services among others. The number is linked to the resident's basic demographic and biometric information such as photograph, ten fingerprints and two iris scans, which are stored in a centralised database.



What is Aadhaar Card?




Aadhar Card: An identity card having 12 digit number. UIDAI will issue this to Indian citizens only. It helps to have unique identification to each and every person in the country. After applying for this Aadhaar, UIDAI will provide unique card for every individual who enrols for it.

Necessary information like Biometrics which includes Photograph, Fingerprints, Iris scan will be gathered from the individuals to create unique identity of an Individual. Each and every member of the family will get Aadhaar Unique ID number. The number printed on Aadhar card can be used either online or offline. Using this 12 digit unique number, it is possible to fetch the records or details of the particular individual. Further, used up for verification of identity.

It is accepted anywhere in the country. Poor people will get benefited with this card than normal one. This Aadhaar card can be used as a proof of identity while opening a bank account, in passport verification, booking e tickets etc. In one phrase, it is the simplest way to describe ones identity.

AADHAR Card  cannot be applied online as it requires biometric data like fingerprints, retina scan and your photo. You can only get an appointment date on the web, for authorised enrolment centers. To apply with/ without online arrangement, you need to physically go to the enrolment office.

Only at certain Enrolment centers, online arrangement for AADHAAR card Enrollment has begun on a trial premise. If it's not too much trouble note that not all offices have online arrangement office. On the off chance that your area is not recorded in the online arrangement application site. You have to apply physically at any nearby UIDAI card enrolment center.

Procedure to follow:


  • Collect the Aadhar form from your nearest post office.
  • Fill in the necessary details and attach the relevant photo, id, address and date of birth proofs.
  • Get the fill form verified by the officer at the post office.
  • You will be given a number but need to wait till your number is called.
  • When your number is called the following procedure will be conducted.
  • - Biometric scanning of ten fingerprints.
  • - Biometric scanning of the iris.
  • - Photograph
  • An acknowledgment slip will then be printed and given to you.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
  • For the retinal scan do not wear contact lenses with designs on them.
  • For the finger print scan do not wear mehendi.
  • Give bank account details in the Aadhar form only if comfortable. It is not compulsory.
  • You can also suggest an underprivileged person as a supplement to your UID. Thereby entitling them to a UID as the person who recommends them becomes their benefactor.

How to link PAN Card with Aadhaar Card

How to link PAN Card with aadhaar Card is the very important question for every person. Government is leaving no stone unturned to make every official process digital in India. All these is being done in order to prevent duplicity or work, cut down time of official deliveries and to curb corruption to a significant level. The LPG connections were already made mandatory by the government to be linked to the respective aadhaar number of the consumer

  •    In the first place, you need to login to your e-filling portal
  • Once you have opened the e-filling portal, a pop-up window would appear on your screen that would prompt you to link your aadhaar number.
  • If the pop up does not appear automatically, you can go to profile settings and search for the main menu and click on the link that says aadhaar linked to PAN.
  • You would be required to enter your aadhaar number in the field provided, however, before you do so, you should check if the name, gender, date of birth and other details match with the one given in your PAN Card.
  • This is important because income tax department would verify and cross check these details.
  • Once you notice that all information matches, you can put in your aadhaar number and click on ‘Link Now’
  • Once the validation is done, your aadhaar number would be linked to your PAN Card
  • It is to be noted here that your aadhaar number would be linked to your PAN number only when the details listed on your PAN card are exactly the same as that mentioned on your aadhaar card.

Online method of Linking Aadhar Card and ration card

Right now, the online portals are under making and processing. Thus it may not be able to reach out for these portals. But you can get an online form that is required to be filled up for the linking process.

Once you get the application form, it has to filled appropriately with following steps:

The application form will get opened in pdf format. View the document with adobe viewer.
Fill the various fields with respective information.
Fill up AADHAR card number, email id, mobile number and ration card details.
An OTP will be sent to the entered contact number. Fill up that password.
Upload appropriate documents supporting the identity, AADHAR card number and ration card.
After verifying the entered details, click on submit button.
The officials will review your application form. Once the procedure is complete, you will be contacted and notified regarding the status of the process.
